At the climate justice march in Bournemouth I decided to use my love for photography to convey the moods, emotions and themes of the march first hand. By using photography the reader can fully immerse themselves into my feature and see the passion of the activists.
A young boy looks up at his father with a sad yet hopeful expression whilst he holds a 'Greenwashing is the new denial' sign. This captures the urgency for action against climate change in aid of keeping the planet healthy for the younger generations. It could also be conveyed that the child is confused as to what's going on which greatly signifies the importance of the march and COP26.
A man stands and listens to chants of activists with a concerned expression, perhaps signifying the lack of hope he has for change. An extinction rebellion flag can be seen in the background.
A man laughs with friends as he holds an extinction rebellion flag. This could signify the hope he has for change and the joy he feels as he marches for what he believes in with the people he loves.
A sign reads 'We cant recycle wasted time' held up by a young child. This shows the urgency that even young children have for climate change. They don't want their home destroyed.
The activists gather in march formation, holding a sign from Greenpeace which reads 'Stop failing us' as well as various other signs with a call to action.
Bella, one of my interviewees, holds a sign reading 'System Change Not Climate Change'.
Barney, another interviewee holds a sign saying '2022 will be too late'.
Activst with the same sign as Bella shows the extent of this view towards climate change.
Again, another activist with the same sign.
Finally, a woman with the same sign however she has a disapproving, inattentive expression as if she has lost all hope for change.
