ENVIRONMENTAL CHARITIES & HOW TO HELP

If you’re reading this, chances are you care about the environment and making the world a better place. And who can blame you? The condition of our environment has been pretty bleak lately with global warming, water pollution, and depleted natural resources on the rise. But it’s not all doom and gloom! There are ways we can preserve our world for future generations through charity initiatives that work to tackle some of these issues.

1) Donate Time

If you’re looking for ways to help out or make a difference, donating your time is one of your best options. You can get hands-on experience by volunteering with an environmental charity or initiative that you believe in. You may not be able to change laws or reverse devastating effects of climate change on your own, but you can make an impact when it comes to protecting endangered species like tigers, whales, polar bears—or even helping homeless animals find new homes. In addition to improving animals’ lives, a volunteer gig is also a great way to gain resume fodder. Having some experience under your belt will strengthen any job application and show future employers that you have initiative, leadership qualities and are passionate about what you do.

2) Donate Money

Give to charities that are committed to environmental and sustainability issues; if all of us support charities dedicated to these causes, we can have a real impact on climate change and overall health of our environment.

3) Spread Awareness

By supporting environmental charity, we all play a part in helping to reverse some of our effects on our planet. By educating ourselves about what is going on, we can spread awareness of how important sustainability truly is. One person at a time can make a difference; so why not start with yourself?

Charities to look into:

Fareshare - Redistribute food surplus to those in need. Welcomes food donations & volunteers.

Friends of the Earth - Created to help with the climate crisis. Accepts volunteers & donations with local groups all over the UK.

The Climate Coalition - The UK's largest group of people dedicated to action against climate change. Welcome donations and action from its members.

Soil Association - Against intensive farming and for local purchasing and public education on nutrition. Looks for donations.

The 5 Minute Foundation - Advocates to do quick 5 minute beach cleans in order to clean up our beaches. They also educate the younger generations.

The Wildlife Trusts - There 'to help tackle the climate and ecological emergency, whilst making nature part of life for everyone.' They ask for memberships and advocate to start fundraisers.

Greenpeace - It's goal is to "ensure the ability of the Earth to nurture life in all its diversity". They accept donations and fundraisers.
